Michael holds a Ph.D. in Tibetan and Buddhist studies (CIIS, 2007), and has lived closely with Jonang masters in the Dzamthang, Ngawa and Golok regions of Amdo since 2004. His doctoral work concentrated on the history and thought of the Jonang tradition, and his dissertation was on the zhentong (gzhan stong) writings of the modern Jonang scholar, Khenpo Lodro Drakpa (1920-1975). Author of several articles on Tibetan Buddhism, his current research concentrates on the formulation of the zhentong contemplative view found within Jonang Tibetan Buddhist literature. Since 2005, he has acted as a representative of the Jonang Standing Council. He is the author of the Jonangpa.com Blog. Tibet [China] and U.S.A.
